Today JayDee and I colored our Easter eggs but instead of using the dye from the box we decided to do it the old fashioned way. We filled a pan with water and coffee grounds then took onion peels, and crunched them up a little bit and put them into the coffee water to soften. Next we took a raw egg and covered it with the wet onion peels, added a sprinkle more of coffee to the outside of the onion covered egg, wrapped it in newspaper then tied with string. Then we boiled them in the remaining coffee water. This is a tradition in my family that came from my ancestors in Switzerland and the results are always fascinating.

Cool!
Beautiful, and what a cool tradition to keep! Glad to hear all is well with Evan! Great news. Have a wonderful summer!! Funny cake, by the way. I don't know if I could actually eat it!
Those eggs are amazing! What a process...
I am so proud of you that you did the Easter eggs our own special way. I did them last year.I think your dad kept on doing them, and our cousins in the Eschler family are about the only other ones that still do them.
Love, Aunt Dianne
